Steer Clear Of Some Summer Trends on Clearance

We all like a good deal, but remember when you are shopping clearance items at this time you are very susceptible to the fleeting summer trends. Oops, I think I just bought one, but at least it reminds me of a classic retro look... eccentric as the dress may be. May I kindly advise you to NOT fall victim to the Gladiator Sandal trend. Ladies, you must have a model foot and stellar pedicure for this oh-so-naked-foot look. However, if your feet are one of your best assets, best go out and shop like mad for the on sale, scandalous sandals that most of us do not dare to wear. They were suppose to be all the craze this year and I saw not one gal wearing them this summer. Therefore next summer, you can sport the classiness of yesteryear, last year that is.

Summer Sales-Transitioning into Autumn

Some folks are looking at back to school wear and buying fall clothes, but let's be honest, it is usually very hot when the kids get back to school. Parents trying to be frugal would fare well by having there kids search the clearance racks for back to school clothing. I'm sure most of us have memories of wearing that back to school outfit and sweating like mad because it is over eighty degrees and you are wearing a turtle neck with a sweater vest over it and a pair of corduroys. Even if you are not going back to school, check out those clearance racks to replace worn out summer items and to find garments that can transition into your fall wardrobe. Layering is the best way to feel comfortable and be in fashion during the late summer/autumn season. Those lovely discounted sundresses look so beautiful beneath a sweater, jacket or an unbuttoned shirt. Scarves can be added to the ensemble as the weather cools. Also, if the dress is above the knee, you can wear a long sleeve shirt and stretch pants beneath to create an entirely different look that will keep you warm. All of those on sale tank tops and t-shirts are perfect undershirts during the winter, especially the long ones that you can tuck in. Don't forget to look for marked down summer items such as big beach towels, beach bags, sandals (flipflops if you wear that sort of thing...I suppose we all need them for the gym locker room), hats, sunglasses and other seasonal items. Then check back for fall clothes a little later into the season because some will be on the clearance rack by then to make room for holiday items.

What are your favorite fashion pieces?

If you could only keep three items from your current wardrobe, what would those items be (only 3). This could be fun...please leave a comment.

On the Go Summer Fashion-Practical and Comfortable

Often times, my summer days quickly melt into the sunset evening. If you are having a beach or outdoorsy day, think about how your pieces can be used to quickly transform into an evening outfit. I love to layer with light layers, especially since most indoor places have air conditioning. My favorite underneath layer is a tank top with a built in bra. I have found many swimwear tank tops that are actually quite dressy. For evening wear, I then layer my favorite sheer type shirt over the dressy beach tank and bring along a jacket in case it gets chilly. Sashes of light flowing fabric can quickly be tied in the messy wind blown hair to dress it up. Summer wear can be fashionable while being comfortable and practical.
